BASKIN profile: Can Evrenol


Premiering tonight at Midnight Madness is Baskin, the debut feature film of provocative writer-director Can Evrenol. Evrenol was born in Istanbul, and is an alumni of the University of Kent, where he studied art history and film. Baskin follows a group of police officers who stumble into a place where a sort of black mass is taking place by a malevolent cult, and are pulled into a violent, inescapable hell.  Although this is the first full-length film in Evrenol's output, his resume is rife with tense and unique pieces (including a short film also called Baskin of which this film is based off of) that can assure every Midnighter will be on the edge of their seats tonight.
